The Last Set of Pumpkins - How To Make Them

I have one last set of primitive pumpkins in my eBay store. I enjoy making these and usually start making them at the end of July-early August. These pumpkins are made by using 4 pieces of material, and then whip stitching the bottom, turn inside out and rag stuff with a bit of polyfil on the top. I whip stitch the top closed and hot glue a stick and spanish moss on the top. A small piece of gingham adds a finishing touch. I always spray my pumpkins with a delicious pumpkin scent and add a little hang tag with a little rusty safety pin. They are great to use in a wooden bowl from October through November...

Fall ~ A Gorgeous Time Of Year On the Mountain

One of the most gorgeous times of year here on the mountain is fall... A time when the leaves are changing and the gorgeous evergreens compliment the foliage of the deciduous trees of all colors. The picture of the Kwanzan Cherry is so pretty, and if you think this tree is pretty in the fall, you should see the spectacular spring blooms.

This is a Temple Maple. It is not like most fast growing maples. It has grown extremely slowly and is very dense. The birds love it in the summer time.

Dogwoods with their deep red leaves, are such a rich contrast against the evergreens. I have many white and pink dogwoods planted throughout the property. In the fall, the red berries provide food for the birds. They usually have the seeds eaten before hard winter comes. In the spring, the flowers are breathtaking and some blooms get as large as my palm.

Many of our leaves have fallen. The Bradford Pears are just now starting to turn red. The Ash trees have dropped their leaves, along with the walnut trees. The Hickory trees are vibrant yellow and look so pretty near the evergreens and dogwoods. I hope you are enjoying your fall foliage as much as I am...

My Newest Quilted Christmas Tree

Can you believe Christmas will be here soon? Once the elections are over, I think everyone will be relieved, as we will be moving on to the next 4 years with a new President. After the newness wears off, we will be looking forward to Thanksgiving and giving thanks to all that we have to be thankful for... Many of us will be decorating for Christmas. We always decorate after Thanksgiving dinner.

The tree pictured is my latest tree and has an old door knob for the base. I am working on a larger one and once it dries, I will be listing it as well. These quilt Christmas trees are made from vintage quilts and look so nostalgic! They are perfect to give as a gift to someone who does not have the room or desire to put up a large trees with many decorations.

Look What I Received!!!

I have a friend that lives in Mississippi. This friend has been through Katrina and lost so much, including her most valued treasures - her friends. She has the most wonderful spirit of anyone I know and always makes the best out of what she is dealt, no matter what that may be. She is also one of the most giving people I know. A couple of weeks ago, she sent me two jars of her wonderful pickles. This was not the first batch of them that we were blessed with. I think she should sell them, as they are the best I have ever had. I met Theresa on eBay and she has been a constant friend through many ups and downs on eBay, and in life. She is a reminder to me that when someone has a heart filled with love, nothing else matters and nothing will get them down. She has a neighbor that she cares for, as well as beautiful pets and a very loved family. She always takes the time to send a card, a note, a gift, or an email to keep in touch and keep our friendship from dwindling, even when I am not so good at reciprocating...

Theresa, I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate you in my life. I have been a little down with politics and other little things going on and there you are, shining like sunshine. I just opened the huge box of goodies that I received today, with Paige by my side, pulling things out of the box. She was thrilled to get her gift from you as were Taylor and Morgan... They are munching on their treats now. I must say, if I don't keep my adorable slippers on my feet, Morgan will be right there to snatch them up. LOL!! I love the wooden tray with sheep on it, pickles, apple butter that I cannot WAIT to taste, PUMPKIN material, sock monkey slippers, and especially my gorgeous sheep that you handmade with love. Thank you for being such a kind friend to me...
